The walk up to La Villa from Ponte a Serraglio follows the Lima River. There is a footpath most of the way and on the mountain side there is a rock wall. In late winter and spring snowdrops and daffodils grow from the wall. It is a bit early yet for these to appear, but the moss, lichen and tiny plants look wonderful. The entire wall is alive.

These plants are all really tiny. Soon the crevices will be filled with bluebells, snowdrops and tiny daffodils.

Where is the snow?

There is some snow higher in the mountains. We are not very high above sea level here in Bagni di Lucca and the snow doesn’t come this low very often.

Alive and kicking! I love these images Deb. Like the people, Italy delights in the four seasons and lives them to the full…..

It does a bit. This wall gets the sun all day and is very damp. The plants are really tiny… difficult to show the scale…I need a matchbox.

How are you making a collage like this (very nice). Is it a wordpress thing or other software?

You can do this with wordpress. It is quite simple, just follow the prompts when you insert photos.

Nature is so beautiful. If we tried to plant a wall to look like that, it probably wouldn’t look near as pretty.

I think you are correct, if we tried to do this it wouldn’t look as good.

Quite the treat, and a reminder of more green is not too far away. … BTW – will be sending an email this weekend to update.

Hi Debra, just wondering about the earthquake , was it near Bagni Di Lucca?
By: Gemma Howard on January 25, 2013
at 11:09 pm
Yes the earthquake was felt here. My house shook for a few seconds and several people gathered in the piazza, but it appears there was no damage and nobody was hurt. It was a bit scary for a while.
