A winter wall

The walk up to La Villa from Ponte a Serraglio follows the Lima River. There is a footpath most of the way and on the mountain side there is a rock wall. In late winter and spring snowdrops and daffodils grow from the wall. It is a bit early yet for these to appear, but the moss, lichen and tiny plants look wonderful. The entire wall is alive.

  5. Where is the snow?

    • There is some snow higher in the mountains. We are not very high above sea level here in Bagni di Lucca and the snow doesn’t come this low very often.

  6. What a nice collection of photos, in these different sizes!

    • It is new gallery format by WordPress…I like it.

  14. How are you making a collage like this (very nice). Is it a wordpress thing or other software?

    • You can do this with wordpress. It is quite simple, just follow the prompts when you insert photos.

  15. Nature is so beautiful. If we tried to plant a wall to look like that, it probably wouldn’t look near as pretty.

    • I think you are correct, if we tried to do this it wouldn’t look as good.

  16. Quite the treat, and a reminder of more green is not too far away. … BTW – will be sending an email this weekend to update.

    • Spring is just around the corner. My daffodils are starting to grow.

      • So our ours, but we’ve in a stretch of below 0 C!

  17. Hi Debbie just wondering did the earthquake hit come close to Bagni Di Lucca?

  18. Hi Debra, just wondering about the earthquake , was it near Bagni Di Lucca?

    • Yes the earthquake was felt here. My house shook for a few seconds and several people gathered in the piazza, but it appears there was no damage and nobody was hurt. It was a bit scary for a while.
