Today at the Ponte Vecchio

The weather is beautiful just now in this part of Italy, what an excellent excuse for a trip to Florence. The Ponte Vecchio always puts on a good show and today was no exception.  There are not a lot of tourists about yet, so it wasn’t too crowded.

  1. The rain’s supposed to come back next week, at least here in Milan, so let’s soak up the sun while we can!! You’re so lucky to be in Florence when it’s not crowded. I’d love that.

    • This weather is wonderful in the middle of winter. I feel as though I should be outside all the time. We had fun last year taking photos of the jewels.

  2. The antique jewelry on the link is spectacular.

  3. Aaaah Deb, your photos quell all the latent travel urges that hammer at my psyche but can’t be satisfied at this point in our lives. Thank you! 🙂

    • You’re up early. I hope you get to come to this gorgeous part of the world one day. I would love to show you my favourite things.

  4. So peaceful without the crowds we had during our visits in September while studying in San Giovanni Valdarno. Are you one of those people who won’t eat gelato in cold weather? I’m not! And I am coveting one from Grom at the mention of Firenze!! Enjoy.

    • I eat gelato all year. In fact, I had a marron glace and hazelnut Grom in Florence. I also went to my favourite cafe – Giacosa – for lunch.

  5. How nice with so little people to contend with. Enjoy.

    • I don’t go to Florence after mid April usually, when it becomes hot and crowded.

  6. How peaceful and soothing to look at that lovely Arno River calmly wandering through Florence. Has it ever been known to flood? You have captured one of my favourite cities in the world. Cant wait till I meet you there later in the year at the Giacosa for that special coffee on what has to be one of the best fashion streets anywhere.
Keep the pictures and stories coming
    ciao

    • There was a serious flood in 1966. I took some photos yesterday of the flood mark and will do a post about it soon.

  7. Ahh, I can almost smell the Italian winter air. How long do you think you will stay there for this time?

    • I am here until May 20 – lots of time in lovely Italy.

  8. These photos are beautiful Deb., the light is amazing & the day looks wonderful. Aaahhh, but I do so love the Ponte Vecchio. Can’t wait to see it.

    • You should come, you will love it. The food is great too.

  9. This is why I love traveling blog, I can see another side of the world even though I am sitting in my room now… 🙂 One day I hope I can visit Italy 😛

    • I hope so too – it is a fascinating country.

  10. I still can’t believe that I’ve yet to visit Italy! 🙁

    • It is here waiting for you.

  11. I still can’t wrap my head around bridges with shops on them, even though I’ve seen one in person ( http://journeyphotographic.com/2010/06/10/pulteney-bridge-bath/ ). I really want to see this bridge in person one day!

    • You have to come. You will get some great photos.
