We are in Marrakech. We flew out of Milan. On the way up to Milan airport in the train we had all kinds of weather. It rained heavily on the way from Florence, then we had blue sky. From Milano Centrale to the airport huge white clouds appeared and made a stunning backdrop to the graffiti beside the railway line.
Once at the airport there were black storm clouds and hail. The weather had a busy day.
This is my first visit to Marrakech. We arrived very early in the morning.
There was a cat at the airport, presumably waiting for its owner to arrive.
After checking into our lovely Riad Mena, we set off to explore the city. We were a bit concerned that we would not find our way around, but Abdel, from the Riad, took us to a central point which made it a bit easier to navigate the tangle of streets.

The streets were chaotic, with people, donkeys, horses and vehicles of all kinds. The weather was pleasantly warm, but that didn’t deter many people from wearing several layers of clothing, including the ever popular puffer jackets. It made me hot looking at them.

We had a map. The street names are difficult to find, and we took a few wrong turns, but we found landmarks. Let’s see how we go on day 2!

Love this post – it’s SO different to be in another country, with it’s bright colours, open air activity, you can almost smell the spices….local handiwork, just the varying modes of transportation, scenes etc. Your photos, as usual, add such a vibrancy; the only thing missing is the soundtrack. Thank YOU!
P.S. – nothing like your bucolic Spring garden/ exquisite florals etc which would evoke a New Age meditative soundtrack….ALL beautiful and special just the same.

It is fun watching the traffic navigate the tiny streets full of people. Something like a small tractor with an open back to carry people had an altercation with the donkey man. Neither wanted to back up to let the other through.
We have seen a few “arguments”.

What a fascinating place. I should like to be invisible so that I could stand and look intently at every little thing. Beautiful donkey. The wiring is insane! I would think all good electricians have gone to heaven!
