Over the Arno

Whenever I go to Florence I cross at least one of the bridges across the Arno. The most famous, of course, is the Ponte Vecchio. It is popular with tourists…and the local pigeons.

Here are a couple of the other bridges.

Whatever the weather, blue skies or grey, Florence is a delight.

Responses

  1. The Ponte Vecchio… I also have to cross it each time I go to Florence.

    • It can be horribly crowded, but occasionally it is possible to be almost alone there. I like to go early in the morning.

  2. yes, I love those bridges! I agree about out in a beloved city in the early morning – it is the best time to see the REAL city

    • I find it surprising that few people are up early to wander in these gorgeous places. It is clearly the best time to see things.

  3. Love your photos of the bridges, and normally I really can’t stand the pigeons, but you’ve made the solo one almost cute.

    • I know pigeons can be pests, but I quite like them. I like to see them strutting about looking very important.

      • I’m always afraid they’re going to crap on my head.

      • That is supposed to be good luck, messy though.

  4. I ….just…LOVE … Florence. Love the pigeon shots. Louise

    • They are such plucky little birds.

  5. A lovely series of photos!

    • Thank you. I love Florence.

  6. I love the Arno and the bridges in Florence. Wish I could go back soon. Great post!

    • I can’t get enough of Florence.

  7. So agree with you…one of those places that keeps calling one back…

    • I look forward to being back in February.

  8. Sigh! Now I really miss Italy a lot seeing your pics. I can’t believe I was there only a week ago…
