How lucky we are to have friends in Bavaria! They live in a lovely town called Erlangen and have an apartment in Fischbacau in the Bavarian Alps. We spent a couple of weeks exploring when we weren’t sitting at home eating (my friends are excellent cooks) and avoiding covid.
There was no snow until our very last day, but the winter scenes were delightful anyway.
The architecture is stunning.
The last few photos were taken in Bad Tolz, where I have been before. Here is a post I wrote after the last visit. A Bavarian interlude
There are pretty churches everywhere.
We went on walks in the open air in forests and beside the beautiful lakes in the area.
We saw lots of lovely blue sky.
Snow fell on our last day in Bavaria.
We ate lots of delicious food while we were in Bavaria. I could easily become addicted to bratwurst with mustard on a bread roll and lots of other traditional dishes. I regret to say I took photos of almost none of it. On our last day we went to the fabulous Cafe Winklstuberl in Fischbachau famous for its cakes. I finally remembered to pull out the camera.
We had a little adventure on our way home, which I will tell you about in my next post.
Here are some posts I have written on past visits.
These photos transport us to Bavaria. I especially love the reflections the lake pictures.

Bavaria is beautiful. I need to go in spring to see a different side of it.

I love it too. The semi rural satellite villages around the towns are lovely.

So enjoyed your photos of fabulous architecture & especially loved the churches. It would look picture postcard covered with snow. PS Hope the rabbit got away from the man with rifle!!!

We love Bavaria! My brother’s live in North Germany, Hamburg and we had a family reunion in a great AirBnB outside Kempten in 2018. Day trips to Fussen, Garmisch and surrounds…such gorgeous country!

It was a nut cake, mostly hazelnut I think. It was excellent.
