I always fly Finnair when I fly to Italy. The trip includes a stop in Helsinki, one of my favourite cities in the world. I feel completely at home here and this time I was lucky to spend a gorgeous blue sky early autumn Sunday in the city.
I stayed at the Seurahonne hotel beside the station. The strong men are still holding their lights.
There was an international food fair on in the park beside the station.
The park in Esplanadi is still green and bright.
Roses are still blooming.
I arrived very early in the morning and had the entire city to myself. I walked down to the harbour and around Toolonlahti.
Later on people ventured out to enjoy a gorgeous day in the sun.
I discovered that my camera is not working on my first walk and had to return to the hotel for my back up, which is not as good. I hope I can get it fixed!
Glad to hear that you arrived in Helsinki, which looks beautiful at this time of the year. Have a safe trip to Italy. Looking forward to your posts.

I share your love of Helsinki, Debra, and that hotel as well. So convenient, and the new airport train is a treat also.

I haven’t tried the airport train yet. The bus is so convenient. It stops right at the arrivals door and in 30 minutes you are at the station and 30 metres from the hotel.

Yes, I’ve done the bus every time, until May this year. Even then, only did the train one way living as a local😜

Hi Debra – I’m looking forward to your Italian experiences once more. I am always recommending your blog to friends so they can see your beautiful photographs wherever you are. I often wonder what camera you have? I am due for a new one. 🙂 Maree

I have a Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ200. It is getting on and the button impress to take photos is not working correctly, although it did when I took it to the camera shop today.

Isn’t it always the way. Things never play up when you want them to. Thanks for letting me know what camera you use. At the end of the day though it’s the eye behind the lens and great editing. Thanks again. Maree
