The best deli in Bologna?

I don’t pretend to have visited all the delis in Bologna, but I have seen quite a few and this one in Via Obedan is my favourite.

I bought some of the pumpkin tortellini. They were beautifully wrapped, and they were taken home and cooked with butter and sage.

There are several delis and food stalls in the centre of Bologna in Via Drapperie and Via Pescheria. I couldn’t resist the sausages in the window of one and I can report that they were delicious.

  1. Your photos conjure up two words: mouthwatering and succulent! Thank you!!

    • Bologna is a great city, especially if you like food.

  2. Just gorgeous and oh the food…..especially the pumpkin ravioli looks spectacular! 🙂

    • The pumpkin tortellini was every bit as good as it looked.

  3. You’re making me hungry.

  4. This deli looks absolutely delicious.

    • I have seen it before, but this time we were staying just around the corner…very handy.

  5. “Bologna la rossa, Bologna la grassa” (Bologna the Red one, Bologna the fat one), Red because of its political leanings and fat because of all the good food. It is a culinary paradise. My favourite shop is the mythical A.F. Tamburini. Only trouble… too many clients and visitors…

    • Tamburini is a victim of its success. I think think the food is great there, but on this visit at lunch I had the surliest waiter I have ever had in Italy…and that is saying something.

  6. Very tasty stuff!

    • Bologna is a great place to enjoy good food.

  7. Seems so delicious, I really wished to visit and to make shopping there… Thank you dear Debra, love, nia

    • I wish it was my every day shopping place.

  8. It must smell amazing in there! 😀

    • It certainly does.

  9. There is nothing like a Deli in Bologna … Yum !!

    • Bologna does food very well.

  10. How fabulous, what a mouth watering bunch of pictures.

  11. Pumpkin tortellini is my absolute favourite pasta – divine!

  12. I get the impress that those in Bologna eat well. 😉

  13. The pumpkin tortellini with butter and sage sounds heavenly. I’ve heard that the food in Bologna is the best in Italy, which I think is saying a lot. Is that your feeling too?

  14. This looks like a foodie’s paradise! 🙂

  15. i could lose myself in that deli!!! im reading a book that is set in venice it is in english but the food is described in italian so i to going to the web to translate. it all sounds so good.

  16. They could certainly show Coles’ deli a thing or two! Is it expensive Deb? I’m so envious of that kind of culture.

    • The prices are higher than in Bagni di Lucca, but probably about the same as Brisbane, but with much more variety.

  17. Reblogged this on Italy: From St. Peter to Caravaggio and commented:
    Scrumptious!!!

  18. Oh my! It’s a visual feast! I’d imagine leaving there with less money in my wallet with bags of things 😀

    • The biggest problem is what to choose.

  19. Okay, you have done it again–made me hungry!!!!!!

    Hugs from Ecuador,
    Kathy

    • Bologna does that to me too.

  20. This is the standard all delis should go by.

    • The delis in Bologna are some of the best I have seen.

  21. I can see why this would be a favorite…everything looks wonderful.

    • I would love to shop there every day.

  22. And the food…dear God, the food. Bologna claims to be Italy’s culinary capital, and I’m not one to argue. The list of foods originating in Bologna and the surrounding area—lasagna, tortellini, “spaghetti bolognese”, Parma ham, balsamic vinegar, parmesan cheese—reads like a what’s what of Italian cuisine. Then there’s “bologna” itself (or rather, the gargantuan but delicately flavored mortadella), along with pretty much any other cured pork products you can imagine.

  23. I’ve been living in Bologna for over a year now and I’ve never even HEARD of this place – it looks AMAZING! I know what I’m doing this weekend…mmmm

  24. delightful…

  25. So very intutitive of you! That is right next to where my aunt lives and is indeed the best salumeria in Bologna (or so we think). The only drawback: prices. We call it the jewelry!

    • It is a wonderful deli. I wish I lived close by.
