Rockhampton Queenlsland in Flood

Rockhampton is currently experiencing the biggest flood since 1991. The Fitzroy river peaked at 9.20 metres. That’s only 0.2 metres under the 1991 flood. The catchment area for the Fitzroy is very large and with all the flood waters from western central Queensland (places like Emerald) the Fitzroy level is expected to remain high for some time.

These aerial photographs were taken on 1/1/2010 when the river was at only 8.5 metres.
The others are a few photographs from around the city

  2. What can I say? The photos speak for themselves. I feel for those poor people battling flooding homes and businesses. The clean up will be very messy and smelly. I once helped a couple clean their home after the 1974 Brisbane Flood and felt sick from the smells of mud and debris. That was only after three full days of cleaning up. Imagine those people putting up with that for weeks afterwards……

  3. THanks for sharing the pictures!!!
