More from lovely Adelaide

flowers to brighten up a cold winter day

they grow on long stalks

Parliament House

A Royal Lion

He has come a long way to be here.

It is a pity the well travelled lion is tucked away behind bushes.  He is easy to miss if you are not looking for him.

The imposing War Memorial

The back of the Memorial is just as impressive.

inside - the tragic lists from Gallipoli

Matthew Flinders without his boat

The water feature in front of the Gallery

From a distance they look like seats - there must be the occasional wet bottom

Student accommodation - I like the modern building

The Gallery, Museum and University area is very well presented

I love these flowers!

Isn't it incredible?

  1. Loved the pictures of Adelaide – the flowers are spectacular. Do you know when you are going to Lucca.
We leave here on the 9th Sept. and will be in Lucca
    from the 24th – 28th Sept.
We are experiencing the hottest summer ever in the USA.

  2. Wow, Deb, you’ve got a sharp eye for detail! I’ve lived in Adelaide for 29 years and didn’t notice that plague about the old lion. Just shows we need to keep our eyes open when exploring our lovely city.
The water feature in front of the museum and art gallery is a popular place for children. They often run their fingers through the water and splash out. Even the occasional adult can’t resist the same urge!
I don’t know the botanic name for the red flowers, but we call them “red hot pokers”. You’ve done Adelaide proud in bringing out some of the beauties of our city. Thanks, Deb.
