La Conca del Sogno
A lifetime ago I lived in the south of Italy in a village called S’Agata sui due Golfi situated between Sorrento and Positano. To say this was an idyllic location would be an undersatement. It was the beginning of my love affair with Italy.

I still visit my ex family occasionally on my trips to Italy. On one of these visits Rosa took me to the restaurant of a friend. I had no idea where we were going, but driving anywhere in this area is pretty amazing.

The restaurant is called La Conca del Sogno – Bay of Dreams www.concadelsogno.it . It belongs to the Tizzani family and apart form a fisherman’s cottage it is the only building in a rocky cove facing the Bay of Salerno. Positano can be seen in the distance.
I had a perfect day, swimming in the sea in a borrowed swimsuit and eating some of the best Southern Italian food I had ever tried. I vowed to return for a longer visit.
Jim and I went 2 years later and stayed for a week in one of the seven rooms attatched to the restaurant. It was even better on the second visit as we were able to wake up every morning to one of the best views in the world, and then get stuck into that delicious food.

Most people come to the restaurant by boat as the road down from nearby Nerano is not the best. It is also possible to walk from Nerano around the cliff. It is not too far and the track is quite good. Best of all are the spectacular views from the top.

Once the day trippers have gone it feels as though the little cove is just there for you to enjoy. We walked to Nerano a couple of times to catch the bus to Sorrento but mostly we just swam in the sea, ate and gazed at the view.
This place is a gem.

Rosa’s jewellery shop is in Via S Cesareo, Sorrento. The girls speak English and they are very welcoming. Tell them I sent you and it will be even better.

My sister in Adelaide turned me on to your blog last year when we were planning our trip to Italy to visit la famiglia (in Rome and Roseto degli Abruzzi) and go to language school. We studied in Sorrento and fell in love with the area! Thanks for sharing your great story and more of the place I left my heart!

I love Sorrento! I am looking forward to going back there in October to see Angelo’s family. I’m hoping for a visit to La Conca del Sogno. Thank you for following the blog.

Debra,
You are a tauntress, for sure! Now I am intrigued by your “first husband” and your “ex-family” and this incredible place that created your first love affair with Italy. John and I just returned from our 3 weeks in Italy where we followed your wonderful recommendations almost to the “T.” We met Luis and David in Lucca and saw the incredible views of Rome from atop the department store as you advised. We had great fun searching for your recommendations and felt as though you were almost along with us on parts of our trip.
