Old things in San Miniato and lunch

San Miniato is one of my favourite towns in Tuscany…I have many. It is just over an hour drive away from Bagni di Lucca. The town holds an antique market on the first Sunday of each month, a good excuse to visit again.

The market is held partly under cover and partly in the main piazza and on the road out of the town.

There are lots of things to look at and perhaps buy.

I did find a couple of small things and would have loved this old wooden wheelbarrow. I reluctantly left it behind as it was a bit expensive for something that would just sit quietly in my garden.

On the way into the centre we walked past Maggese,a restaurant I have been to a couple of times. It us usually booked out for lunch, but I stepped inside to see if there was a free table…lucky us, they could fit us in. After a wander through the stalls we went back. This is modern Italian dining at its best.

The food is delicious.

San Miniato is a tiny town with lots of excellent things to see. There are several great restaurants and interesting enotecas, shops and buildings.

On the way back to the car park I spotted this lovely view.

And this renovator’s delight.

I loved the stunning door.

It was a lovely way to spend a Sunday.
