Snow in Ponte a Serraglio

We woke up to snow this morning. Here is my balcony.

My poor daffodils are covered. I hope they are tough.

My car isn’t going anywhere right now.

The magnolia flowers are covered with snow.

Mimosa is weighed down with snow.

Of course I had to go for a walk in the snow. I wasn’t the only one.

I hitched a ride to the top near Bagni Caldi and walked down. The roads are all white with snow.

It is amazing how pretty everything looks with a white coat.

The last time I was here for deep snow was February 2013.

It is 15 years ago today that we first came to Bagni di Lucca and decided to buy here…an excellent decision.

  1. Pisa airport closed because of the snow…we are now overnighting in Munich….tomorrow lucca withnfingers crossed

    • I thought that might happen when it started snowing last night. Keep warm, good luck with the flight. See you soon.

  2. You never fail to deliver, Deb! Ponte looks beautiful, albeit a bit chilly. Thank you for sharing, and for taking that walk! I hope you had some good boots.

    • I do have good boots! It is gorgeous here. You should come on over.

  3. How very pretty, and a real treat on your Birthday Debra, enjoy…….

    • It is a lovely birthday treat.

  4. The snow will make your birthday extra special

    • It has! I love it when it snows here.

  5. Beautiful. I fly to Rome and drive to Abruzzo in a couple of weeks. The local villagers have been sending me snowy pics too.

    • You might get some snow too!

  6. Thanks for sharing so many photos! The town looks lovely in snow!

    • It certainly does. It is not all that convenient, but it is very pretty.

  8. Lovely!

  9. It is indeed.

  10. What a beautiful day for a birthday! Have a glorious time in the snow. All the best today and always. Love, Sondra

    • Thank you Sandra! I hope you are well and keeping warm.

  11. This looks so dreamy and cozy, I feel like I can only say that because I am sitting indoors with climate control… but I wouldn’t mind sipping a hot cup of chai tea latte and enjoy this view.

    • It is drizzling now, so I think the snow will soon melt.

  12. Fairy tale beautiful! Happy birthdays!

    • Thank you. It has been a lovely day.

  13. Thank you for these beautiful, amazing, and magical pictures.
Have a mulled wine, keep warm . ❄️

    • I have spent quite a bit of the day leaning on my heater looking out of the window at the snow.

  14. Oh that looks so beautiful! Don’t you love the quality of light and muted sound when there is deep snow cover. I hope you had a lovely, happy birthday, Deb. Ponte Seraglio was beautifully gift wrapped for you.

    • Yes, there is a special quietness in the snow.

  15. What a winter wonderland. Love your balcony photo and the trees laden with fresh snow. Always a picturesque village but that is just beautiful. 15 years I remember it well.

    • Time goes too quickly.

  16. I would love to experience the snow in Lucca how magic ✨✨enjoy

    • It doesn’t happen all that often, but I love it when it does.

  17. Just beautiful!

  18. Just so beautiful to see the snow…everything looks so pretty.

    • I love it when it snows.

  19. What a beautiful area you live! Definitely a good decision 🙂

    • It was a great decision. It has opened up a whole new world for us.

  20. I hope not to bother you but you answered one question and now I have another. We will be staying in Bagno di Lucca for three months. Do you have any suggestions for leasing a car. We are looking at car rentals for that time and it will cost us over $3300US. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you.

    • You could try leasing a French car for 3 months. I have heard that is good.

  21. Good Morning dear Debra, These are beautiful photographs, like an art painting… Last night I watched and also I left a comment too, but I can’t see this morning as if I didn’t make a comment. Anyway, Thank you, have a nice day and weekend, Love, nia

    • Ponte looks wonderful in snow.

      • Yes, it is! Good Morning dear Debra, Have a nice day and new week, Love, nia

  22. I found where I made a comment 🙂 on your other blog… sorry I confused. Love, nia

  23. No matter what season, Pont a Serraglio is one of the most idyllic villages in Bagni Di Lucca. Your camera lens sure capture the magic of snow!

    • I am looking forward to spring and some gardening weather.

  24. So magical…a winter wonderland.

    • The snow has all gone now and we have rain.

  25. Beautiful photos… everything looks so peaceful and quiet

    • It was gorgeous while it lasted.

  26. Happy birthday Debra. What a beautiful whitewas you’re experiencing

    • Thank you. It was a lovely day.

  27. A winter delight. There is something so enticing about being in the snow. Gorgeous photos. Just beautiful.

    • I love it when it snows in Ponte.

  28. What! Snow in Italy. Surely not. Gorgeous photos.

    • Italy gets lots of snow. There are mountains running right through the middle of Italy with alps in the north.

      • Of course. Forgot about that.

      • Most people think Italy is hot and sunny, but the winter can be quite cold, particularly in the north.

  29. Snow is the most popular theme of this year. Nevertheless, it is so fun. Thank God, you don’t have -20 there.

    • The snow was fun and a happy change from rain.
