Leaving Bagni di Lucca

I am now on my way home to Australia after several weeks in Italy. Autumn put on a great show this year.

Ponte a Serraglio, my little part of Bagni di Lucca, looked lovely as the leaves on the trees turned yellow and began to fall.

We had some gorgeous sunny days.

We had misty days.

We finally had rain and snow on the mountains. We need this after a hot, dry summer which came after a winter drought and a dry spring.

The leaves will soon be gone from the trees.

I always miss my Italian home when I leave, but I know I will be back in a few months for more adventures.

  1. Beautiful!

    • It is difficult to leave.

      • I am sure it is. Such a gorgeous place!

  2. Hi Debra,
Thank you for sharing your many travels with us in words and beautiful photos: Helsinki, Greek islands, the beautiful Dior exhibit in Paris, the Amalfi coast, Capri, bella Bagni di Lucca and more. Wow, fantastic!!
Hope you enjoy your Australian summer. We’ll be back in Lucca in February too – hope to see you there.

    • Summer is not my favourite season in either place, but I do like being back in Brisbane for a while.
I look forward to Lucca in February.

  3. Have a safe trip!

    • Thank you. I am in Helsinki waiting for a plane.

  4. Autumn in Italy is so gorgeous isn’t it?
But brave of you to return in February! Bit too cold for us..

    • I like winter in Italy and I love the very beginning of spring.

  5. Beautiful! Gorgeous photos. Can’t wait for March when we go to Abruzzo. Our house purchase went through and I can’t wait make the place home.

    • Congratulations! The adventure begins.

  6. Have a safe trip to Brisbane. My daughter lives there too and enjoys her summer trips to Italy more and more. I loved the fallen leaves in your photos. Very atmospheric. I have visited Bagni di Lucca once and loved the all-pervading sound of the river, which must be the background noise of your Italian life. Enjoy Christmas in Oz!

    • I never stay in Italy in the summer. I find it far too hot and crowded and love Brisbane in winter.
My apartment in Bagni di Lucca sits directly above the river and when the water is high it is delightful to listen to sit rushes past.

  7. Oh my, there seems to be so many gorgeous times of the year in Bagni di Lucca, I can’t decide when to come and visit!

    • Spring and autumn are the best seasons to visit.

  8. Safe travels….really looking forward to seeing you soon.

    • I am home now. I would like to have stayed for more snow, but I can’t have it all.

  9. We are so fortunate to have this lovely spot

    • We are lucky indeed.

  10. We are indeed fortunate to have such a lovely place as our Go To

  11. The change of season is what I miss most about the northern hemisphere !! Looking forward to a good catch up at our favourite cafe…Jxx

    • I love the distinct seasons, spring and autumn being my favourites.

  12. Lovely autumn images, thank you for sharing Debra.

    • Autumn is a gorgeous season in Bagni di Lucca.

  13. It’s that time again to say goodbye Italy and hello Australia. Get ready for some hot weather Debra!! 🙂

    • I have arrived home and the weather today was perfect, but I know it will be hot soon.

  14. Wow so so pretty ❤️❤️

    • Ponte a Serraglio is a very pretty village.

  15. Such a beautiful place!
