The Bridge Hotel at Ponte a Serraglio is for sale. Advertising businesses for sale is not something I normally do on the blog, but I was talking to the owner yesterday and when he told me the price I thought it was such a bargain that I wanted to let you know about it.
The family has owned and run the hotel for more than 30 years and they now wish to retire and move to Lucca to be closer to their children. The Bridge Hotel is where I stayed 10 years ago when I came to Bagni di Lucca to finalise the purchase of our house here.
The hotel has 12 rooms to rent, 3 single and 9 double rooms, all with private bathroom, TV and telephone. There is a lift, a breakfast room with a small kitchen and bar, and a reading room.
There is a small garden at the back of the hotel.
Best of all, there are 2 apartments on the top floor where the owners live. One has 2 bedrooms, living room, kitchen and bathroom.
The other, which was the home of the owner’s mother has a living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom.
These 2 apartments could be combined to make one larger living area for the new owners.
There is a long balcony on the top floor with views over Ponte a Serraglio.
I know I am biased, but I think Ponte a Serraglio is one of the loveliest of the Bagni di Lucca Villages. We have gorgeous views up and down the Lima River and up to the mountains around us. We have 2 bars, 3 restaurants, a pharmacy, post office, news kiosk, hairdresser and barber and good public transport….and it is beautiful here.
The hotel is for sale for an amazing price, send an email to Giulio at laromea@gmail.com for more information.

How do you get to the hotel? Which airport?

The nearest airport is Pisa which is an hour away. We are 25 kilometres from Lucca, one of the most beautiful towns in Italy.

I’m not absolutely sure of the exchange rate right now, but it would be about $450,000.

I would like to endorse Debra’s comments, it is a bargain. Great location. Ponte a Serraglio is one of the prettiest sites and a very convenient place to be.La Villa, where the Town Hall s located is only about a km away, but the Ponte has its own Post Office, chemist and nice restaurants and cafes. I am on the other side of La Villa, also on the river, but I go quite frequently to Ponte a Serraglio because I love the atmosphere. Easy to park as well. I think that it is a great opportunity for anyone.

I read your post from start to finish. Normally i’d not be able to resist getting to the end to see the price, especially for a hotel i’m familiar with.
I have to say i’m absolutely amazed at that price – talk about incredible value for money. 12 Bedrooms and all the rest for €350k. It won’t be on the market for long. I’m a little surprised its even come on the market; I would have thought it’d represent a good investment for a local italian family, perhaps one with an existing business in or near Ponte?

What a temptation! They are wonderful people who feel like family to me. I’ve know them for close to fifty years. Sad to see this sale but it’s time for them to enjoy life. Perfect opportunity for an energetic young couple to live and work in a fabulous area.

It would be so lovely to take that on. I would love to bring forward some of the Art Deco feeling of the place and the living quarters on the top floor would be terrific made into one. We could develop a vegetable garden at the back with chickens for eggs for guests’ breakfasts. We could…..umm, ah, I think you suggested “young” couple – problem there.

Ooooh….I hope someone or a vibrant couple takes on this gorgeous hotel and retain its unique charm! I love the retro decor, the garden, the apartment, the views – like ‘a home’ away from home. Love the way the kitchen looks out to the back garden. Debra, let’s hope your advertisement will attract the buyer(s) who will fit in well in Ponte a Serraglio. I agree that this is one of the prettiest villages along the Lima.
