Wisteria sightings

I love wisteria. I have tried to grow it on my tiny balcony, but it won’t flower. Perhaps it doesn’t like being  in a pot. Just as well it is everywhere for a few weeks.

Wisteria has finished now for the season apart a few lingering lilac blossoms, but knowing it will be back next spring makes me happy.

  1. Maybe you can plant some at the pile of rocks Deb

    • It will definitely be planted at Vergemoli. It will certainly grow there.

  2. Wisteria is such a pretty flower! I always think of the show Desperate Housewives though as they live on Wisteria Lane! 😛

    • It is gorgeous and the smell is divine, I can’t get enough of it.

  3. I can’t get enough of it either. Love it love it love it.

    • I love to wander under it and just breath it in.

  4. Hi Debra,

Thanks for making that beautiful photo of the wisteria in our garden. I have put it on our webiste, if you are ok with that.

    • I am happy for you to use the photo. Your garden looked lovely when I passed and took the photo.

  5. Here in the Northwest of the U.S. it is suddenly everywhere. So beautiful.

    • I wish it lasted longer.

  6. Beautiful pictures, thank you.

England has done spring quite well this year too:

    Best,

    • That is a very impressive wall of wisteria! I love it.

  7. I love the subtle smell of wisteria. It’s a beautiful colour too.

    • The smell is wonderful, particularly on a warm evening.

  8. Deb, I used to love wisteria – until it tried to take over my backyard and tear down my pergola! It’s been years since we’ve had one, but we’re still pulling occasional shoots out of the ground!

I must admit though, they are gloriously beautiful to look at, so long as someone else has to maintain them! 🙂

    • I know it can be a pest, but it is so beautiful for a few weeks every year.

  9. G’day Debra

Can hardly believe it! Was looking at a place for sale in Bagni Di Lucca, went seeking more info on the web, and found your blog. I was born in Brisbane in 1945 (went to Churchie). Married to Nadya, born in Sydney 1954, parents from Italy (village of Sutrio in the far North Eastern corner).

We are serious about purchasing a (modestly priced) place in your area with a view to dividing our time between there and the Gold Coast (where we now live). KNow of anything? Or a good local agent?

By the way, we are bridge players, and some friends know Liz? Small world.

Look forward to hearing from you. Will spend the next few days going through your archives!
