The food market in Bologna

If you are not interested in photos of food, switch off now.  I love the food in Italy.  The produce is amazing in range and quality.  I would love to take an apartment in Bologna to take advantage of the markets and buy food to take home to cook.

blood oranges

buratta – mozzarella with cream in the middle

delicious tomatoes

so fresh!

squid

triglia di scoglio

fresh sardines

rockmelons

carciofi – artichokes

macelleria – butcher

a selection of salami

more salami

I think it means gluttonous!

the selection at Gilberto in Via Drapperie

There are interesting people here as well.  We had excellent service at Tamburini, one of Bologna’s famous deli’s.

Matteo at Tamburini

helpful Sergio at Tamburini

You will often hear “Si mangia bene in Bologna”  You eat well in Bologna – how true!
