Iris van Herpen at GOMA

Iris van Herpen, Sculpting the Senses is now happening at QAGOMA in Brisbane. It is an immersive sensory exploration of her incredible work. Iris van Herpen is a Dutch fashion designer. Her designs are a combination of art, sculpture and fashion. She is an acclaimed artist and designer, an acknowledged visionary of the 21st century.

The exhibition is a collaboration with QAGOMA and the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. 170 items including garments, accessories and other sources of inspiration from across her career are on show. Iris van Herpen’s partner, Salvador Breed is a sound engineer. His atmospheric soundscape weaves throughout the exhibition.

Come for a walk through this incredible exhibition.

You really need to be in the space to see the exquisite detail in these creations. There are videos showing behind the scenes and runway shows and art and much more. I have been 4 times to the exhibition and have been fascinated every time.

The exhibition continues until 7th October. I recommend a visit…or 4.

  1. I am ABSOLUTELY mind boggled by this email!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • The exhibition is amazing! I am very happy it came to Brisbane.

  2. I, too, have just zipped through this exhibit – it’s truly jaw-dropping!! I have to look again, one at a time, trying to absorb the exquisite detail and fathom her creative source! And; on a personal ironic note; the previous comment also was stunned by this posting – I have to draw the 360 here; BOTH Anne Boldt and I hail from Vancouver Island, Victoria to be exact and it was I that recommended your blog!!! Funny to me; that we are the first two to comment; both Canadians, attended the same high school etc and we are BOTH equally dazzled by what you bring for our utter delight!! We have never met, yet corresponded and I haven’t lived there for 50 years!! Almost as unbelievable as the sumptuous designs you’ve shared here. Again. Thank. You!

    • The exhibition is exceptional. I wish I could convey the total amazement it brings to visitors. The way the items are displayed is breathtaking.
The world is small indeed, with such connections.

  6. My friends drove up from Sydney to Brisbane to see this and they showed me pics. Some of the dresses are astounding and defy imagination! 😀 So gorgeous.
