Now hail

I awoke this morning to the sound of thunder rumbling through the valley. Then another noise started. I thought rain was pouring into my living room, but when I looked out the window I saw hail.

Hail

Hail

Hail

Hail

Hail

The weather has been less than great since I arrived a couple of weeks ago. Enough now! Some sunny days please.

Responses

  1. Rain, hail & snow just about covered it all – still very overcast & showery here Ponte looks gorgeous in all weather

    • Yes, it does, but I want some fine weather so I can get to my garden.

  2. Whoops Debra – Helen just sent a comment no name cheers

    • Yes, we have had everything now, except sunny days.

  3. WOW…hope it hasn’t damaged your plants Deb.

    • The flowers on the balcony are OK. I will plant the pansies on the bridge in the morning if it is fine.

  4. The weather has been atrocious throughout most of Europe since Christmas. One storm follows the other. It may be good for the spring garden but terrible if you have to stay at home….

    • Yes, it gets a bit boring.

  5. No hail here in lucca but lots of lightening and thunder and intermittent downpours…..sun maybe this afternoon

    • There has been a bit of sun here this afternoon. I hope it lasts a while.

  6. Wow, that was impressive hail. I hope your daffodils survived. We’ve had a lot of rain and wind now a cooler day which feels marvelous. The weather is always ‘whether or not’ isn’t. 🙂

    • The flowers are fine, they are obviously tougher than they look.

  7. Hail is the worst!! I once got caught in a hailstorm waiting to enter a museum in Florence and it wasn’t fun. That whole season, several years back, visiting Lucca and Florence saw rainstorms and hail of Biblical proportions. I learned later that the locals call Lucca “The Bidet of Italy.” Have you ever heard that phrase???

    • I haven’t heard that expression about Lucca.

  8. Feel fortunate. We are in the midst of a terrible drought in Cape Town and surounding area. We hope we get storms soon!

    • We had a drought here last year. I thought our spring would run dry. This year is just the opposite.

  9. Sounds awful – we’ve had buckets of rain but clearing and cooler today – around 26 degrees maximum forecast

    • Fortunately the hail didn’t last long, but the rain persists.

  10. Brrr….I feel chilly just looking at those photos! Lovely and mild here in Puglia though, despite two very cold days and some snow last week. We have barely noticed winter this year. I have worn gloves and a woollen hat out walking only 2 or three times between early January and last week. November and December were positively balmy,

    • The weather has been awful since I arrived but it will improve soon…I know it.
