Rock man

I recently went to the village of Stazzema. I was really looking for Sant’Anna di Stazzema, but went the wrong way and and arrived in the wrong village.

On the way I stopped to take photos of this amazing mountain. It is the same one we see from Vergemoli, but from the other side.

Apuan Alps

I think the rock on the left looks like the profile of a man.

What do you think?

  1. Not a very handsome man… But an interesting rock formation… And great photos, just as usual.

    • He is not all that handsome, but he has a cute hairstyle.

  2. George Washington!

    • If you squint a bit.

  3. He’s smiling down on everyone too!

    • I think he looks quite cheery.

  4. Good spotting…not very handsome is he.

    • He has a certain rustic charm.

  5. Absolutely!

  6. You’re right, Debra, about the profile and the ‘hairstyle’! What about Bertolucci?

    • Do you mean Berlusconi?

  7. Wow Deb. Do they comment on it in the village. Maybe ir has another name.

    • I don’t know anyone in Stazzema, but they must, he is very obvious.

  8. It’s the Easter Island guy … no … It’s George Washington

    • I can certainly see the Easter Island men.

      • Therefore, maybe Easter Island was settled by Italians …. or maybe the Easter Island civilization moved to Italy.

  9. Yes the rock definitely looks like a man’s head. He has a cute nose. 🙂

    • He has a very strong profile.

  10. ….and the biggest dimple I’ve ever seen!

  11. Yes! Very cute!

    • I think he looks quite majestic in his lofty position.

  12. Actually kind of reminds me of George Washington’s profile.

    • George is winning here.

  13. The mountain is called the Procinto. I’ve done a couple of times. See my post at

    for more details

    • Thanks Francis. Does the man have a name?

  14. Hope you get to Sant Anna one day!

    • I did get to Sant’Anna. I wrote a post on it last week. It is a very sad place to visit.

      • Ah, I don’t know if I saw that or not (there’s been a bit of a black hole in my viewing recently). I shall check back!

  15. You are right…it looks just like a man’s face! I usually tend to see formations as faces or shapes…nice!

  16. Paul votes for Washington….but I see a D’Este nose…….so flat up to the forehead….

  17. It totally TOTALLY does look like a man. 🙂 Very cool.

    • Perhaps is should have called him cool rock man.
