It is raining in Bagni di Lucca. I love the rain here, provided it doesn’t go on endlessly. I think the village and the river look beautiful in the mist and rain.
It must be raining heavily in the mountains because the river has risen quite a lot in the last couple of days.
This has not caused any problems in the village, but once again Cinque Terre is in trouble. Heavy rain has caused evacuations for the second time in as many weeks. The towns are struggling to clean up after the recent mudslides, the last thing they need is more rain. Take a look at this site – savevernazza.com/ Please look and perhaps help the people in this beautiful part of Italy if you can.
It is also raining very heavily in Spain and it looks as if more bad weather is coming. Terrible situation for the Cinque Terre people and I also heard that Genoa had some very heavy flooding. Very sad!

I have been watching the situation in Genova and it is terrible. I had no idea these cities were so prone to flooding.

I have seen the footage and it is incredible. We will be in Venice tomorrow. I hope that is OK.

Please stay out of harm’s way, my family in Genova has sent me photos of the damage they’re experiencing (terrible!) and family in Piemonte is crossing their fingers… Again, please stay out of harm’s way, be safe!!!!

How lovely. I, too, love the rain sometimes–given I don’t have to go out in it.
Hope you’re having a sunny weekend on the inside–warm and cozy,
Kathy

We are on the train to Venice. The weather isn’t looking too bad just now, let’s hope it continues.

The rain gives the views quite a different atmosphere! I like rain as long as I am indoors 🙂

I hadn’t seen any pictures of the mud slides, that link is quite sobering. I hope the rain in that area stops for everyones sake in the Cinque Terre region.
Enjoy Venice Debra.

Cinque Terre and Genova have been flooded. They are on the other side of our mountains.

Thank you for visiting Un prosecchino. I live between Lucca and the hills above Bagni. I always say that the rain in the hills looks like a chinese painting but as you say , if it goes on too long one longs for a bit of Van Gogh.

Beautiful photos, Deb, but I hope the flooding doesn’t cause too much grief further downstream…

The river in front of us floods very occasionally and the road is covered inn some low parts, but it would have to rain for a long time for that to happen.

It looks so gorgeous in the rain, but it’s horrible to think about the damage being done because of it.

I just saw the floods in Italy (& France) on the news at lunch today. I do hope it does not get much worse there. The flooding continues here in Thailand and the water does not seem to be subsiding. Take care.

As usual your photo’s are beautiful….thank you for posting the website. I dont know if I feel blessed or sad for having the opportunity of visiting this whole area in all its glory last year. I did wonder over to this site http://www.come-to-liguria.com/wordpress/category/cinque-terre/ too which has the latest on both cinque-terre and Genova current situation and yes it is happening all again. my thoughts are with the people who need to brace for the future in those areas.

What is happening in Cinque Terre and Genova. I hope the Italian government is quick to act to get things fixed up as quickly as possible.
