I head off for Italy very soon. Brisbane is putting on a lovely send off for me. The river and the city light up each night as part of Brisbane Festival.
Brisbane is a beautiful city. I have enjoyed being home for our glorious winter. The weather has been perfect, warm sunny days and cool nights, just the way I like it. We need rain badly and with some luck spring rain should start soon as I look forward to autumn in Italy.
I am keen to get back to my garden at Casa Debbio to see how it has survived the summer. There are lots of lavender plants to prune and some beautiful season change to enjoy…there will be photos.
There is still time to catch the events at Brisbane Festival. http://www.brisbanefestival.com.au
Tough. Winter in Brisbane and Spring and Autumn in Bagni di Lucca. Someone has to do it. Lucky you – and you do it very well. Waiting on your first post about the garden at Casa Debbio. Travel safe.

Thank you. I know Filippo will have done a great job with the garden and I can’t wait to wander along the lavender rows and take in the gorgeous fragrance.

Dear Debra: Thanks for your farewell photos of our city. It was a pleasure to have met you and had that wonderful luncheon at The Greek Club and for you to meet my friends Annie and Richard. Look forward to reports from Italy. Bon Voyage Kevin Palmer

Thank you. We have had some great new restaurants open recently. I do keep an eye on your posts. I have been trying to fit in as many as I can before I go back to Italy. I will be back in early November to try some more of the new ones as well as my favourites. We are certainly spoilt for choice. I love the W and Brisbane Quarter and am very keen to see the Calile open when I return.

Looks like We’ll be missing your return to Bagni di Lucca as we missed your departure. Would have liked to have met you since I’ve been reading your blog since our first trip here for the summer of 2014. We arrived just after you left and we’ll be leaving this Saturday morning. One of your compatriots pointed out your home overlooking the bridge. Lovely location. Enjoy the fall here. The weather has been magnificent..except for the constant heat..blue skies with white puffy clouds almost everyday. In three months I don’t think that there was more than 3-4 rainy days. Welcome back. We’re returning home to Long Island New York.

I will arrive on Friday evening. I thought there had been more rain this summer. Last year there was a drought for the whole year. I avoid summer in Italy, it is much too hot for me. I love the winter, spring and autumn.
If you are around Bar Italia for a coffee on Saturday morning I might see you there.

Safe travels back to Bagni di Lucca. I had hoped to meet with you in Brisbane but there has been so much to do since we returned that the time has flown. We return to Pian di Molino late October and are staying till mid January hoping to be in time to prune our lavender before it becomes too hot. Maybe we can meet in Spring to talk gardens and to compare notes. We will be back in Italy in April. We are hoping to follow through the visa and permesso challenges next year so that we can be more flexible in our timing. Wish us luck
