Pitigliano revisited

Pitigliano in southern Tuscany is one of those towns that I love to return to. It sits in spectacular fashion on top of a tufa ridge.

The amazing aqueduct dates from the 1600s.

The  Piazza della Republica is dominated by the Palazzo Orsini and a couple of stunning fountains.

Come for a walk through the town.

The cathedral in the centre of town is very impressive.

We had lunch again at Osteria Il Tufo Allegro in Vicolo della Costituzione 5…when you are on a good thing, stick to it.

Arrivederci Pitigliano…I will be back.

      • There is an endless supply of gorgeous places to visit in Italy. It would take many lifetimes to see them all.

  14. The sheer feat of the building/engineering of those times always astonishes me. Historic towns, fascinating lanes and beautiful food – what a combination.

    • It really is incredible that these towns were built so long ago…and still stand.

  15. I’m stunned by another Tuscan gem that I didn’t know .. and you continue to find ways for me to miss Tuscany. Thanks!

      • Too bad those hilltop towns aren’t accessible by train.

  16. All of the above Plus, the name of the town just rolls off the tongue don’t you think? c

    • It does have a nice ring to it.

  17. Such a gorgeous place! Thank you for sharing it with us, Debra!

  18. What a place!!!

    Great place for photography…

  20. One great shot after another. And you really captured the Italian feel of the place. Although, it feels very empty and too small-town-ish. Perhaps it’s a good thing. 😉 Love the panoramic shots.

    • Pitigliano is much busier in spring and summer. We were there around lunch time and the time when most places are closed. Also I try not to get people in my photos. Pitigliano is a small town, but it has a lovely atmosphere and I will certainly be going back for more visits.

  21. Aaahhhh brings back lovely memories, thank you Debra. I watched Italy Unpacked on BBC TV last night, they travelled to Carrera and Pisa, I have to get my Italian fix in any way I can. Role on Spring when the direct flights start again 🙂

  22. […] you are not following this best Italy blog, you are so wrong! She travels all over the world […]
