It was a beautiful autumn day in Florence on Monday. It was cold, but the sun was shining and the city was still full of tourists.
Wherever I went I saw fascinating faces.

I love the way you choose themes for your photo shoots, Deb. At first, I thought you would be taking real Florentine faces in the streets. But it;s still interesting to observe the close-ups of ‘famous’ faces including the perpetual Neptune! I wonder if the sartyr was sculpted after an unpopular public figure at that time? For instance, Goya did a painting once of the Devil who looked like someone in the royal court. The subject was not amused but the King laughed at the resemblance!

I am in Ponte a Serraglio as we speak (or write!) having a coffee in bar Italia and at last able to access the internet. I am here until Saturday so have decided that I really must go to Florence – taking your advice and going on the bus. I just hope the weather is kind to me, a mac and a brolly will have to come along too. I am sure the sights in Florence will outweigh the gloomy weather if the sun does not shime….

I love the faces! I also adore Florence. It is one of my favorite places in Italy. Plus the nearby vineyards are a delight for someone like me who loves wine so much.
