Faces in Florence

It was a beautiful autumn day in Florence on Monday. It was cold, but the sun was shining and the city was still full of tourists.
Wherever I went I saw fascinating faces.

  1. I love the one of Neptune in Piazza Signoria… gorgeous sculpture.

  2. Great photos! Florence is full of great faces, but my favourite one is located at the Uffizzi Gallery:

A most interesting and powerful lady and a beautiful woman in a magnificent dress. The painting by Bronzino is exquisite.

    • She is beautiful. When the crowds have gone I will go to the Uffizzi again to see her.

  3. Wonderful post. Was there for a week last year and can’t wait to get back.

    • I am lucky that I can visit Florence often. I love to wander with nothing particular in mind.

  4. I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your post. Your photos are wonderful.

    • Thank you. I love Florence, there is a never ending list of things to see.

  5. Nice post. The orange roughy looks a little surprised to be included.

    • He has such a lovely face, how could I not include him.

  6. Magnificent. Don’t like where they put the seam on the Prada dummy heads, though. It could’ve been hidden.

    • I thought the window was very clever. I didn’t even notice the seam.

  7. Great take on a very classic city. Thanks!

    • Florence is indeed fabulous. I am lucky to be close enough to go often.

  8. Florence gives good face indeed! And I like how you included the fish! 🙂

  9. I love the way you choose themes for your photo shoots, Deb. At first, I thought you would be taking real Florentine faces in the streets. But it;s still interesting to observe the close-ups of ‘famous’ faces including the perpetual Neptune! I wonder if the sartyr was sculpted after an unpopular public figure at that time? For instance, Goya did a painting once of the Devil who looked like someone in the royal court. The subject was not amused but the King laughed at the resemblance!

    • I actually know somebody who looks a lot like one of those satrys. I’m sure he was the model.

  10. Beautiful. Your fish looks like a painting. Amazing.

  11. Gosh, Deb, do you realize how brilliantly moving this post is? This should be Freshly Pressed! Stunning, my friend!

    • Thank you. I love Florence and love nothing more than walking her streets.

  12. I am in Ponte a Serraglio as we speak (or write!) having a coffee in bar Italia and at last able to access the internet. I am here until Saturday so have decided that I really must go to Florence – taking your advice and going on the bus. I just hope the weather is kind to me, a mac and a brolly will have to come along too. I am sure the sights in Florence will outweigh the gloomy weather if the sun does not shime….
Hopefully catch up with you sometime.

    • I was at the bar this morning too. We must have just missed each other. I am going to Napoli tomorrow for a few days. Perhpaps I will see you next time.

      • How lovely – I’m sure Napoli will be wonderfull, how lucky you are. Enjoy.

  13. Such a variety of faces! I really like the fish shots, and the gorgeous manikins in the windows… such a contrast to the classical sculpture.

  14. I couldn’t figure out how to post multiple pictures from my flickr so here is the link:

    • I am now collecting faces in Napoli.

  18. I love the faces! I also adore Florence. It is one of my favorite places in Italy. Plus the nearby vineyards are a delight for someone like me who loves wine so much.
