I use the term loosely here. I don’t really have a garden. We live in an apartment in Brisbane and all we have is a small garden bed filled with a Monstera and some ferns and several pots. Bugs have eaten all my basil, my parsley is just about finished, so it is looking a bit sad – except for this gorgeous thing which popped up overnight.
I leave today for Italy. I am flying via Dubai where I am planning some wadi bashing. Hopefully there will be photos. I then have a brief stop in gorgeous Milan, where spring should be in the shop windows, while I freeze looking at them.
I am excited about being in Bagni di Lucca again for a few months. I am hoping for at least one snowfall before spring comes and I am anticipating the arrival of the daffodils, bluebells, magnolias, wisteria etc, etc (some of those on my Italian balcony). I plan to visit some of my favourite places and discover a few new ones – there will be regular reports. I hope you come along for the ride.
Buon viaggio (I’m taking a wild guess at that)!
We’ll be touch, through the beauty of cyberspace.

I don’t really know, but it is very lovely. They just pop up occasionally and last for a couple of days.

Hey Deb. Sorry to hear about the water damage at your place, looks like it was a big task. Thoughts are with you.
The trip sounds wonderful! Was wondering if you could email me the name of that little hotel in Milan?

Hey Deb, Have a great trip!
The plant in your picture is called a Spider Lily. I used to love them as a little kid, and was convinced the fairies in our garden lived around the big clumps of them growing under the tap at the side of the house. I would sit and chat to them occasionally to see if I could entice them out. It didn’t work….they must be very shy. LOL.
Have a lovely time, I’ll be watching this space. xx

Are you kidding? I can’t wait for you to get back to Italy to do more blog posts! Reading your posts transports me for a few minutes, e mi piace molto 🙂
Stunning flower, it does look like something a fairy would be perched on top of, dangling her little fairy legs…

Hello Deb,
I remember the Spider lilies as a child at the base of our enormous common mango trees. Look forward to some great posts from Italy.
Regards,
Helen

What is the name of that flower? It’s amazing. It will be fun having you here in Italy…following your story as it unfolds. You’ve go the forecast right…actually perfect: Spring in the windows, freezing outside. These are the “giorni della merla”…the supposedly coldest days of the year. Buon viaggio!
