While driving back to Bagni di Lucca from a visit to Portovenere we saw this amazing view of the marble mountains near Carrara. I took these photos from the back seat of the moving car.
I have visited the area, but it was many years ago…time to return.

It is an interesting place to visit. There is a lovely little museum up there that is well worth a visit.

Very impressive view of the marble from the motorway. From a distance we thought it may have been snow the first time we saw it. There is also a great view of the marble mountains when you travel from Castelnuovo di Garfagnana to Forte dei Marmi. Great memories of taking our visitors on this drive.
