2012 has been a fun and interesting year. I have taken thousands of photos on my travels. Here are some of my favourites. If you click on the highlighted word you can see the full story.
This gorgeous green frog apeared on my balcony in January. It was a quick visit, he has not been back.
I saw these 2 interesting faces at the Carnevale in Viareggio in February.
In March I was on the wall in Lucca in time to see this magnificent sunset.
I also headed to the Garfagnana to watch Paolo make bread.
The magnolias in Lucca put on an excellent show.
This enormous bee landed on my pansies.
We spent a glorious week in Sardinia in April.
This cheerful fellow caught my attention at the Lucca wine festival.
We were impressed by the pushbikes in Amsterdam in May.
Giant magnolias attracted bees in Lucca in June.
Our lovely builders took a break at our Vergemoli house.
Brisbane looked great in the winter sunshine in July.
August found me back at the Ekka getting the prize chooks to pose for me.
The Brisbane river looks great at night.
I was back in Helsinki in September.
There was time for a quick stop in Rome on the way to Bagni di Lucca.
My geraniums were waiting for me when I arrived in the village. I plant them in April and they last until the end of November, or until it gets really cold.
The view from Ponte a Serraglio never disappoints.
Florence always looks amazing.
It was raining heavily when I left Bagni di Lucca in early November to come home to Australia.
The frangipanis on my terrace remind me why I love Brisbane.
I will be off again very soon to revisit my favourite places and find some new ones…and take a few more photos.
If you go across to Bella Bagni di Lucca you can see what has been happening in the village over Christmas.
Buona Natale Debra and thank you for sharing your beautiful photographs, the next best thing to being in Bella Italia. Hope to see you in Il Monaco in 2013 – Andrea

What a great photo review of your 2012. Interesting to say ‘I remember that.” As a whole, my favorites continue to be the ones that drew me here … Bagni. 🙂

I remember all of those photos – from bees to builders and Barrister chook – I particularly remember Paolo and his blessing of the bread and I think it was also Paolo who cast a Madonna blue cloth over his proving loaves. Such delight Deb; I’ve loved walking through the enchanting village streets with you and seeing such sights as the beautiful child in the pinafore scattering flower petals. Thank you for all the enjoyment and the laughter derived from your wry comments. I look forward to your happy travels in 2013.

I thought he was amazing, resting on his float for a moment. The Carnevale has to be seen to be believed.
