Raindrops keep falling on my head

our street

Or, at the very least, my umbrella and my roof.   This is the wettest summer I can remember in Brisbane.  We used to have hot, wet summers regularly.  I can recall shoes going mouldy in the wardrobe and mildew forming in all sorts of places, but it has been a long time since this has happened.  In the not too distant past, pool owners were almost threatened with lynching, because of the waste of water, now some of those pools are under water.

rain, rain, go away

Floods have devastated much of Queensland and we have had flash flooding in suburban Brisbane.  Luckily, we have escaped damage so far, but everything around us is sodden.

Normally at this time of the year we are surrounded by beautiful flowering poincianas and frangipanis, but the rain has been so heavy that many trees are flower free.  I took some photos before the deluge.

The crazy weather has made for some interesting skies.

We are very lucky to be just wet, when so many people have lost everything in these terrible floods.  I can’t imagine how awful it would be to go back to your home to find everything ruined.  Let’s hope things get better soon.
