GoMA does a wonderful job making art friendly and accessible. There have been long queues to all of the recent exhibitions. I think it is wonderful that they are so child friendly. Hopefully it will help to encourage children to love art galleries all their lives. I ran into some young friends at the gallery yesterday who had to be dragged away after nearly three hours. They left with a promise they could return soon. Here is why.
I’m going to do this, but I will wait until school holidays are over.
You slide in a sack with a handle to grip onto. I believe it is quite fast – I can’t wait to try it.
I have saved the best until last. If you have ever wanted to get lost in a room full of purple balloons, now is your chance.
Somebody must be kept busy blowing up replacements.
You walk through the balloons and they just fly all around you. You see nothing but purple (one of my favourite colours) and it smells as if you are inside a very large balloon. I wish things like this had been around when I was a child. I wonder what makes a person think up something like this. It kept me amused for quite some time – perhaps I am strange. What do you think?
