Tuscany is a yellow zone for 4 days, which means we are allowed to travel outside our municipality. Today I went to Pisa. I was worried there might be crowds, but it was very quiet so I felt safe taking a walk around the Piazza dei Miracoli where the leaning tower stands…crookedly.
I parked nearby and entered the piazza from a different entrance from the one I normally use and spotted a tree with the same lean as the tower.
I forget just how beautiful these buildings are. Repeat visits are great.
The Arno River reaches the sea near Pisa. Late afternoon is beautiful by the river.
When I returned to the tower the light had changed completely.
I can’t believe I was able to enjoy the spectacular piazza with almost no people there.
You have been lucky! Pisa without tourists. A real miracle!
My favorite building in the Piazza is the Duomo. One of the most beautiful in Italy.

Yes, the church is divine. I have been in many times. Today I just wandered outside, trying to stay away from people.

Again enjoyed your stunning photos of the towers in Pisa and the beautiful church. It must seem unreal (but then this whole year has been unreal) to be in places with so few tourists. Enjoy what you are able and take care.

It was amazing to be at the tower without crowds. I would have stayed away if it had been busy. We will be shut down over Christmas so I am enjoying a few days of being out.

I have been there, too, but when it was a bit crowded. However, it was in late September, so it was probably not as bad as in the summer. Lovely photos, Debra!

I have been there when the piazza is full of people too. It is a beautiful place and I understand people wanting to be there. There is more to Pisa than the tower and I wonder if many people take the time to see it.

Some if the best ever photos of Pisa. Lucky to be there and have it almost to yourself. Excellent photos.

I looked at the post I did when there was bright sunshine and it looks so different in the evening, winter light. I sat for quite a while watching the light change with sunset and enjoyed a very quiet view of this beautiful place.

Thank you. It is cold and sometimes wet here. Yesterday was a lovely sunny day and I was happy to be able to leave home.

That is quite an unusual view of Pisa, without almost no tourists, I’m glad you got to enjoy this and sharing with us.

It was lovely to be there without the usual crowd. These are strange times, but I was happy to be able to sit quietly and enjoy this beautiful piazza.

Beautiful photos! Some of the reflection shots of Pisa and the Arno make it look like the city is suspended in the clouds.

The Arno is beautiful as it winds its way through Pisa, especially in the evening light.

I don’t think you would ever tire of visiting Pisa to see the icon buildings. The evening light on the tower is stunning.

I like Pisa and it was amazing to see the Piazza dei Miracoli so quiet.

Thank you! I’m OK. It has been a strange year for all of us and I am hoping the vaccine helps us to return to some kind of normal. Right now I am in beautiful Florence enjoying the Christmas decorations.

Glorious photos of the piazza. One of the very few pluses of this year must be being able to wander these normally crowded tourist high points of interest and beauty. Lovely to be able to enjoy them through your photography, sadly not first hand, till next year.

It was amazing to be there all alone. I can’t imagine that these opportunities to be alone in these iconic places will happen again. For the sake of the people who live and work here I hope they don’t.
I hope we return to some kind of normal next year!
