I am off to Italy tomorrow, back to Bagni di Lucca and Casa Debbio. 1 car, 3 planes, 2 trains and 2 buses, about 30 hours, and I will be there. I should arrive late Monday afternoon…in time for aperitivo.
I will be driving past the Ponte della Maddalena.
Back to Ponte a Serraglio.
Back to Casa Debbio… for some more hard work in the garden. I will be pruning lavender for weeks and checking to see if all my peonies survived the hot, hot summer. Lovely Filippo has been kept busy keeping the water up to everything.
Back to exploring the villages that make up Bagni di Lucca. I have been to all of them now and you can see the results on Bella Bagni di Lucca.
Back to driving on narrow mountain roads.
There will be chestnut festivals to attend.
There will be food.
With a bit of luck I will see some gorgeous autumn colour soon.
I hope you will all come along for the ride.
Buon viaggio Debra! Looking forward to more beautiful photos

Dear Debra,
I absolutely love your Bagni di Lucca and Beyond. I have always loved the country around Lucca, Pisa and Florence and plan on spending more time there once my husband and I fully retire. My husband’s family comes from the Viareggio area.
I am emailing a response to your website directly because when I clicked on your personal email in the info about renting your house, I got a “phishing” warning. And since there is so much hacking going on these days, I decided to go another route. You might want to look into that.
Any way, I am very interested in renting your house in the near future but not quite sure what time of year I will be able to. Can you please send me your rates according to your seasons.
Thank you so much,
Mrs. Derin Gemignani

Debra, I will be in Bagni in a few weeks myself. My father is Roberto Cani and he told me to prepare for my few days I should visit your blog. Since then I have spent countless hours reading your posts and admiring your photos. Thank you for sharing all this with the world!

It is a very long way from Australia to Italy. I do the trip twice a year. I went to see my garden today and Filippo has done a great job to keep everything alive through the hot summer. Most of the peonies have survived. We will see if they spring up next year.

I like Paris Boheme in Piazza Citadella, beside Puccini. Al Corso in Via Garibaldi or Mecenate in Via del Fosso. If you go to the Lucca category and go back through the archives you should find posts on these. Which school are you going to?
