Ci vediamo Casa Debbio

It is time to go back to Australia for a little while. I hate to leave our lovely house in the mountains, but it has to be done.

I will miss my early morning walks through the mist down to the village.

I will miss the waterfalls that have appeared after the heavy rain we have had.

I will miss the ever changing view from the house.

…and the incredible drive down the mountain.

There are compensations of course. I will get to see my family and friends at home and dive into the surf at Main Beach…and I will be back to Casa Debbio in about 6 weeks.

Responses

  1. The photographs are beautiful, but they give the feeling of loneliness.

    • Perhaps it is the winter landscape that makes you think that. I think it is beautiful.

  2. Looking forward to seeing you Deb! Brisbane misses you. xx

    • I am looking forward to coming home…lunch at Harveys?

      • Yep! Chicken salad…same as usual. Very Yummy.

  3. Hi Debbie, it all looks too beautiful to be true. is it really as
lovely as it looks. You’re one lucky lady.
    Cheers Pamela

    • It is every bit as good as it looks. I am constantly delighted by my surroundings.

  4. The photos are just as we imagine over the cold months. Beautiful! And that sunset, or is it sunrise, is so picturesque.

    • I think winter has its own special charm. It was a beautiful sunrise.

  5. Departures are always sad, but then you get tp look forward to the next arrival. We are ready to leave LA tomorrow, looking forward to a catch up at home. See you soon…..

    • I can only leave because I know I will be going back soon. I was in Helsinki yesterday…minus 14degrees! Going home to the heat won’t be easy.

  6. Great photos which explain very well – particularly tothose who do not know the area – how hard it is to leave and how lovely it is. In any case, 6 weeks it’s not a long time and you will see family and friends. Say hello to Main Beach on my behalf. Look forward to seeing you in the spring.

    • I will think of you as I dive into the surf. I look forward to catching up in spring.

  7. Beautiful landscape, I can see why you will miss it…

    • I have been working on the garden at Casa Debbio and I am keen to get back to see some of the results in spring.

      • Roll on Spring! 🙂

  8. Hmmm —now that Casio Debio is unoccupied , I can move in — Italy has bazaar squatting laws —–

    • It is a bit cold up there for you just now Richard, but you can try.

  9. I don’t know how you can bear to leave, apart from seeing family of course, there is no comparison! Still, you’re not away too long this time…..

    • I am keen to get back to get the garden ready for spring. I have been preparing garden beds for new plantings.

  10. Your visits seem to be getting more frequent Debra, or is it just me? The gorgeous Gold Coast will be quite a contrast. Wishing you a safe return home x

    • I spent more time than usual in Italy last year because of the house. I’m not sure how 2014 will pan out.

  11. Oh that’s so ‘middle earth’ and ‘hobbity’. How beautiful it is. When I look at those misty photos I can almost smell the air.

    • I love the misty days. I could have done without some of the heavy rain and thunder storms, but that is part of winter too.

  12. Such gorgeous photos! Have a safe trip back to Australia!

    Hugs from Ecuador,
    Kathy

    • I am in Hong Kong now visiting friends. It is nice to have such a happy stopover.

  13. That’s a lot of beauty to say good-bye to. But there’s more where you’re going. Have a great, safe trip, Deb.

    • It will be nice to be home for a while, and great to go back for the spring.

  14. I love winter landscapes and actually enjoy the cozy kind of loneliness. Thank you Debra for beautiful photos..

    • I love the winter landscapes in our mountains. I often have to stop beside the road just to take it all in.

  15. Great shots! Safe travels and say hello to my Canadian cousin who is now down under. 🙂

    • I will give your cousin a big shout as soon as I hit the ground in Australia.

      • And Happy Australia Day!

  16. Knowing when you’ll be back makes your transitions like the phases of the moon – and I’m guessing family, friends and the surf at Main Beach might weigh up against the things you’ll miss! Makes me envious though 🙂

    • I have been away for a few months and it is time for a bit of Australia.

  17. I love the view from your windows and the surrounding area. You are so lucky you live there.

    • I do appreciate how lucky we are to be able to visit such a beautiful area so often.

  18. We wish you a pleasent fligth home and hope to see you maybe in Franconia this year. Love Anita, Mike and Nicky

    • It seems ages since I have been to your area, and I love it there.

  19. Oh I don’t know how you can leave, looks so beautiful!!! but I know from your comment you are in HK right now. Hope you have a lovely time back in Brisbane xx

    • My life in Australia couldn’t be more different from my Italian life. Luckily I enjoy both.

  20. I can see why you’re hesitant to leave. What a beautiful view. The color of the river is stunning.

    • The river takes on that green colour at certain times of the year. It can be a bright emerald green sometimes.

  21. I can so understand why you would miss that drive down the mountain – lovely images.

    • The views from the road are spectacular, it is better to be a passenger so you can really enjoy them.

  22. The views look so different to what we get here in Australia. It’s wonderful that you get both worlds 🙂

    • I know, I am very lucky to live in 2 great places.

  23. Easy to see why this will be missed. Safe travels!

  24. Safe travels and thank you for sharing your piece of Italy with us.

  25. Happy travels Debra. Stunning as always

  26. Amazing landscape photos!!!

    • Our mountain is very beautiful.

  27. Looks gloom but beautiful. I do hope you get to appreciate the beauty of cherry blossoms there this year. 😉
