Dutch faces

I love to look for interesting faces in the cities I visit. Amsterdam and Haarlem have more than their fair share.

  1. Debra, Nice collection of Dutch faces. The Dutch, for example, Rembrandt and Van Gogh, have a way with faces. John in California

    • The Dutch painters certainly do have a way with faces. I found them fascinating.

  2. Hey there: Have you been having issues receiving your posts via email from the blogs you follow? I never use Reader and prefer to keep them all in my email so I can remember to look at them when I have time. For the last week I have hardly received any of my posts and notified WP who says there is some issue with it.
Have you been receiving my posts or do you read them in the Reader? Just trying to see how other WP bloggers are being impacted.

    Nicole

    • I don’t use the reader either, as I would never remember to look at the blogs I follow. I have been receiving notification of your posts, but perhaps not all. I have noticed a drop off in the number of people looking at my new posts, so perhaps there is an issue at WordPress. I thought people had just got bored with me.

      • Yes I think something strange is going on. Oh well. I’ve been bugging them! 🙂 No one would ever get bored with your blog. It is one of the best out there. 🙂

  3. Hehe I recognised a couple from my very brief time in Amsterdam-one of them was the bird in the church! 🙂

    • I love the parrot in the church!

  4. I wanna say welcome back, but perhaps I haven’t been receiving notifications. I got two emails re reblog that lead to blank posts, but they were the first in a while. Oh dear, what have I missed? Thanks for Amsterdam faces, lovely experience.

    • I don’t know what is going on with email notices. I hope the issue is resolved.

  5. Love the Dutch masters. Although that baby shot was a little frightening!
Very interesting the difference between northern ‘street art’ and what you see in Venice or Rome for example. Must have been very different lives over the ages.

    • I love the diversity!

  6. Being Dutch I am ashamed to say I don’t recognize any of the paintings or sculptures 🙁 Oh wait, there is one from the Nightwatch paining! Pretty pictures and a nice selection.

  7. Great photos, Debra. On the other hand, can you imagine what it would have been like to wear those ruffs all day? I think that this is the reason why we do not see smiling faces……

    • It must have been terrible having to wear those stiff, uncomfortable clothes. I would have been very grumpy indeed.

  8. Really interest faces and clothing too… Lovely shots 🙂

    • This paintings are very beautiful. The art galleries in Amsterdam and Haarlem are magnificent.

  9. I recognise a few (very) old mates here!
