The weather has been wonderful here in Bagni di Lucca. We made the most of it by having lunch on our tiny balcony overlooking the River Lima. Just look at this view.
Lunch was simple and delicious – first course.
Second course – I used some of the basil growing on the balcony.
Tomorrow there is a chestnut festival in the park near home. I’ll be there to sample the wares.
Two of my favorite things! Welcome home!

The perfect lunch and a great spot to have it. I am sure that you enjoyed yourselves. Have a great time at the fair and buy some fresh chestnut flour. I have to give you my own special recipe for “castagnaccio”. A bit more sophisticated and richer than the original one… but it tastes great. No harm in altering original recipes if you can improve them……

Looks like a lovely lunch. It must be soothing to gaze down and watch the river flow by.

The river looks wonderful at any time of the year. It is quite low just now as there has been little rain. Soon it will be higher as the winter rains start.

Nothing beats being back to your Serraglio home and enjoying a lovely lunch on your balcony with a view to die for. I used to love opening the doors to your balcony first thing in the morning and admire the magnificent scenery. You’ve chosen a lovely part of Italy to live and share with us. Your lunch made my mouth water. All that fresh basil and tomatoes with freshly cracked pepper….mmmmmm.!!

Have just opened this blog and felt quite sad I have to wait till next April to be there – love that tiny balcony overlooking the village and all the comings and goings.
Your herbs are flourishing by the look of that basil.
