I leave Brisbane on Saturday for Italy, via Hong Kong, Helsinki and Paris. I have bought an i Pad and I can do basic stuff with it, so I am hoping to be able to post as I travel.
Here are some of the things I will miss about my wonderful home town while I am away. Spring has arrived and Brisbane is looking good.
As part of the Brisbane Festival the city has been putting on a light show every night. I went last night and joined thousands of people enjoying a perfect spring evening beside the river.
When I got back from Italy in May there was a tiny pineapple growing in a pot in my courtyard – click here to see my pinapple surprise. It is fitting that it ripened this week, just before I leave. It seemed a shame to eat our entire pineapple crop in one sitting, but I did just that.
Liz will do the next posts until I have something to share from Hong Kong and beyond.
Sorry we missed you, we left for the US on Monday, maybe Ill see you in the spring

Wow you are such an amazing photographer! How much time do you spend in Italy versus Australia? Funny, I thought you were in Italy now by reading your posts! As for the iPad, I have one too and found the Word Press App very frustrating for posting. I’ve run into issues with posts being posted without completion and it is a bit cumbersome. Mine is an iPad 1 so not sure if that makes a difference or if it is just the WP app. The one bonus is that pictures upload really fast. Let me know how it works for you so we can compare notes. I want to use mine in China but it was a bit annoying on previous travels. Looking forward to your next posts! Ciao!

Thank you. I spend about 6 months in each place. I go to Italy for 4 months from Feb – May and then I go back in the autumn for a couple of months. I don’t like the heat of summer so I avoid as much as I can. I will let you know how I go with the iPad. I have a PC at home and in Italy, so Apple is new for me.

Safe and happy travels Deb, I will watch with must interest your next postings, especially Paris. From there I am hoping you and Shan will send me a postcard of what people are wearing on the streets, whats in those gorgeous vintage markets and what is in the store windows.
Bon Voyage

You can be sure there will be photos of the shop windows in Paris. Winter things are not as much fun as the spring windows, but I will be on the lookout ofr interesting things.

Happy Landings Deb. I’m looking forward to seeing the Vergemoli house and its interior, especially the windows, I have a thing about deep window sills. Besides all of which, Australia needs you to do your bit to bolster the European economy – are you coming back by the US perchance?

I will be taking lots of photos of Vergemoli. I’m hoping to make the curtains from white linen while I am there this time.

I will be mostly in our house in Bagni di Lucca, but I will be travelling around a bit while I am there. Naples and Sorrento are on my list as well as Venice, Bologna and Montalcino for the wine festival. It should be fun.
