Sunday turned out to be a beautiful day. Finally a sunny day, perfect for a trip to Forte dei Marmi. The weather has been wild and windy and there was a big surf – for the Versilia coast. Board riders in full wetsuits were out in force. We walked out onto the pier for a closer look. The waves weren’t great but the boys were making the best of it.
It was a clear day so we had a great view of the marble filled mountains. It really is a spectacular part of the world.
Il Fortino takes its name from the tiny fort in the piazza in front of the restaurant. Since I was there last in October there has been a makeover and the restaurant looks better than ever.
Fortunately the menu hasn’t changed much and I was able to order spaghetti ai frutta di mare. Peta had the same, but I think Paul won with his choice of branzino ravioli with scampi. I’m going to have that next time.
I think we are a bit of a disappointment in that we don’t order a secondo piatto after our pasta, but I find it just too much and the desserts are so good it would be a shame to miss one of those.
If Paul could have licked his plate to get the absolute last scratch of his chocolate dessert, he would have.
On another visit the grilled branzino was ordered by Liz and Laurie.
